Ode To A Potato

Oh, thou fabulous potato!
How oft have we thought to eat thee?
But every time we tried it was no go,
For thou wert one and we were three.

We kept thee until thou sprouted
And thou no longer seemed tasty,
But Kaylie, undoubted,
Thought the garage for thee wouldst be hasty.

It was she, Kaylie, she that gave thee thy fair face!
Thine eyes of small beadiness, thy tender nose,
And beautiful lips to give thee grace;
And arms in lovely pose.

We dubbed thee Tater, love to thee we gave!
You were our friend, ally, apartment pet;
But that and our love could not save
For finally thy fate thou hast met.

Oh brother potato, thou art gone!
Thou art now buried in that plastic grave,
Filled in with candy wrappers, old food, and so on
With all other things that we could not save.

Farewell, sweet Tater;
May you rest in peace,
And may we see you later
When one day we, too, cease.

My girls for EFY Blue #6!

This is a story all about my gals

Who talked with the boys and became their pals.

First there's Josie with awesome glasses,

She totally stalked the boys and followed them to classes.

Megan is next, who's just a natrual flirt,

WIth her looks and smile the boys weren't hard to convert!

Shaniqua's pretty cool, though we call her Sara,

She totally rocked the dance with the sparkly bandanna.

Kelsey's really sweet, we like her a lot;

Not a few guys would be calling her hot!

Micaela is so awesome, music is her game,

With our her the varitety show would be lame.

At first glance Kylie seems shy and quiet,

But once you get her laughing I really don't buy it.

We have our girl Abby who is so fun,

With her attitude and wit she could give you a run.

Ashley our girl, a Torro all the way,

With her it's just fun to laught and play.

Tarry and Lydia, they come as a pair,

Wherever they're looking you know boys are there!

These are my girls, they're pretty tight;

And I love them with all my heart, mind, and might!

I love you girls!

Ode To A JKB Hall

Have you ever really taken time to notice carpet?
It get's stomped on, trialed on, walked on.
But do we take the time to stop and appreciat it?
Feel its texture; a smooth roughnes. Or study the stains of stories long gone;
See the individual carpet strands or how it's made of squares that fit.

Have you ever really take the time to notice ceiling?
White squares pock-marked with many little holes.
4 squars wide, 77 down the hall. 308 squares one hall is dealing.
Wow, that's a lot. And there are also many lights. And only one who cares knows.
I care, I know. There are 13 floresent lights and across the hall they are stealing. (I also counted the can lights, 46, but didn't include that in the poem)

Have you ever taken time to notice wall?
Smooth and white. Oh look over there, that half is tan....

At this point classes got out and I figured that it was a great ADD way to end the poem :)

Sitting Lonely in a JKB Hall

While guarding bathrooms for about 4 hours during classes at EFY, I wrote a couple of peoms. I share them here, and you can guess how entertained I was... :)

Sitting lonely in a JKB hall
I ponder what, who I am.
I pray for the Spirit to help recall
My purpose to get me through this emotional jam.

Sitting lonely by a fountain.
I think about why I am here
And how I can survive this EFY mountain
With happiness, gladness, and cheer.

Sitting loney by restrooms.
Learning to be greatful for the quiet and rest
And pushing away those feeling of gloom
That peace and joy may be my conquest.

Sitting lonely on a floor.
I see someone! I know you!
Oh, I am so greatful for
Seeing other counselors in blue!

EFY Blue #4

What's goin' on, this be my boy Paul,
He's really awesome and he's kinda tall.
Here at EFY this is year fo'
He just kept on comin' back fo mo'
He's from Utah, from Tremonton
And that's just where he's got it goin' on.

Yo, my name is Jenna, hey ya'll hey
I like to have fun, to laugh and play.
This is my first year at EFY
And I have to admit I think it's pretty fly.
I live in Rexburg but I'm from Pleasant Grove,
Why I made that move I still don't know.

Together we make a way awesome team
To sparkle and glow just like a sunbeam.
Our company scripture is Josh 1:8
And we've got the goal to never be late.
We'll take every moment to testify
And change some lives here at EFY!
